Africa And Abandoned Theme Park
Africa
My reaction of what i read in the article is that i never knew that he started from a videographer of music videos for stars like Michael Jackson, Moby and more. He was trained in England in painting and film. It was video directing that eventually led him to his current career as an African wildlife photographer. In 1995, while filming in Africa, Brandt became fascinated and fell in love with the wild animals and places.
I like this picture because it shows how animals be out in the world sometimes and shows how cute animals are. The quote "On this earth, A shadow falls, across the ravaged land" was from a project that started in 2000 and i got interested because a shadow does fall and it could fall from anywhere no matter where you are at. The rules of photography used in this photo are shadowing, focus, and happiness because it shows love and love makes you happy. Shadowing because under the lion its dark. And focus because everything in the back is not focused and the camera is only trying to focus on the lion and the lionesses.
Nick uses a medium format film camera and from what I can tell, his post-processing involves quite extensive use of dodging and burning. Nicks reason for taking pictures is that In 2014, Brandt returned to East Africa to photograph the escalating changes to the continent's natural world. In a series of panoramic photographs, he recorded the impact of man in places where animals used to roam. His hope by taking these pictures are for people to look at animals different other than being afraid of them when the animals are close. Something he has to say about Africa Today is "My images are unashamedly idyllic and romantic, a kind of enchanted Africa. They're my elegy to a world that is steadily, tragically vanishing."
Abandoned Theme Parks
One park featured that i will like to visit is the first ferris wheel that was set up for world columbian exposition in 1893 in Chicago Illinois. Another park i will like to visit is a park that was located in North of Kiev Ukraine. I would like to visit these places because i had always like to visit a place that was abandoned or hunted. I just thought it would of been fun to be scared see how it used to be when it was built.
Five other unusual places i think would be of interest to photographers are The Hanging Coffins of Sagada, Mountain Province Philippines, Los Angeles' Abandoned Subway Tunnels USA, The Roswell UFO Museum USA, Street of Optical Illusions New Zealand, and Las Pozas, Xilitla Mexico.
